Celebrating Independence Day with Boothbay Civic Association

Fri, 07/07/2017 - 10:00am

The Boothbay Civic Association hosted the 31st annual Fourth of July celebration and cookout on the Boothbay Common.

John Bertolet and Stephanie Hawke grilled the hot dogs and burgers while the chicken was prepared by John Leonard and BCA president Pam Wiley. The barbecued chicken was served with cole slaw, potato salad, a roll with butter, a drink and a slice of homemade pie.

The Arts and Crafts fair — composed of over two dozen tents set up around the Common — was well-received. The Boothbay Fire Department’s dunk tank eventually drew participants, although the morning hours were slow. Beside the dunk tank, Desiree Scorcia prepared games and activities for children and families to enjoy such as a beanbag toss, slime creation station and a small pool station for soaking one’s siblings.

Throughout the afternoon, duo Paul Johnson and Amber Jones, followed by Chip Schwehm, provided live music for the enjoyment of the crowd.

For those interested in joining the BCA, meetings are on the first Tuesday of the month, March through December, at 7 p.m. in the Boothbay Town Office.
