Dear Editor:

Every night, someone near the Townsend Gut fires a cannon multiple times, around the time of sunset.

Every night, my dog shakes in fear of when that cannon will go off. She continues to shake and pant for hours. I am certain that my dog is not the only animal who is terrified by this, and certainly there are children that are terrified of this as well.

I write this in hopes that the person firing this cannon every night will please cease in doing so — not only it is a truly obnoxious and unnecessary noise, but it is thoroughly terrifying for our four-legged friends.
