Camden Hills edges Boothbay boys 65-55

A strong second quarter gave Camden Hills a 13-point halftime lead and the visiting Windjammers went on to defeat the Boothbay Region Seahawks, 65-55, Tuesday night at Porter Memorial Gymnasium, Boothbay Region High School.

Boothbay led after one quarter, 20-14, behind eight points by Kaleb Ames. However, the Windjammers tightened their defense and held the Seahawks to only six points in the second frame while scoring 25 of their own. Casey Messer scored eight of his 11 points in the quarter and Jeremy Fraser added seven.

The Seahawks outscored Camden Hills 17-15 in the third quarter as Ben Pearce scored nine of his game-high 20 points.

Boothbay cut the Windjammers’ lead down to five, 58-53, with just over three minutes to play, but Camden Hills got a few back door hoops to seal the win.

Kaleb Ames was Boothbay’s second-leading scorer with 17 points and Sullivan Rice added 11. Kayden Ames scored seven points.

Camden Hills was led by Westen DeWaard with 15 points, followed by Fraser with 13, Messer, 11, Ben Craft 11 and Aiden Schecter with nine.

Boothbay is scheduled to host Winthrop on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 6 p.m.
