Coach Alison Sirois and assistant coach Julia Latter recognized their players during a brief awards night for the 2021 Boothbay Region High School field hockey team Nov. 17 in the BRHS gym.

Against a backdrop of rotating photos on a big screen of the players in action this past season, Sirois began by reviewing her first season, then each player was called down from the bleachers to receive awards from the coaches as parents, family members and friends watched. The coaches read a statement about each player before handing them a certificate.

The following players received certificates for being recognized by the Mountain Valley Conference: first team all-star, senior Jaelyn Crocker; honorable mention, junior Sydney Blake; academic all-stars (who were all tri-captains this season) : Crocker, Emily Echols and Mara Gentry.

Receiving plaques this year were co-most valuable players, Sydney Blake and Mara Gentry, and coaches award recipient Emily Echols.

Other members of the team included freshmen Abbie Clark, Cassie Leeman, Lily Nein and Magen Burge; sophomores Charlotte Fuchswanz, Kari Blake, Avery Barter, Ariel Alamo and Margaret Sledge; and juniors Savannah Compare and Meghan Leeman.

The 2021 team finished with a 2-12-1 record and lost its playoff game to Maranacook, 3-0, on Oct. 21.
