BRES 8th Grade Recognition Night
Smiles, laughter and tears were all present June 12 as 37 eighth graders and their families said goodbye to Boothbay Region Elementary School (BRES) during a recognition ceremony.
Several students received Harold Clifford awards for outstanding achievement, work ethic and academic excellence. Principal Shawna Kurr presented the 2025 Secretary of State award, in lieu of Rep. Holly Stover, who was unable to attend due to the active legislative session.
Student talent was also showcased with musical performances. Masa Fukuda’s “The Winds of Change” was sung by the chorus, led by music teacher Nancy Cole. The band performed ”Morpheus” by Robert Smith, led by band teacher Jeff Waldrop.
Retiring middle school science and math teacher Mame Anthony and retiring secretary Teresa Tess were gifted flowers in honor of their years of service.
