Boothbay tennis season winding down

With the schoolboy and schoolgirl tennis regular seasons coming to a close, the focus is now on the postseason tournament.

The Boothbay girls ended their regular season on a losing note May 24. Mountain Valley defeated Boothbay 3-2. Boothbay scored victories with No. 2 singles player  Hannah Roberts defeating Emily Richard, 6-2, 6-0, and No. 3 singles player Kylie Brown beating Alana Young, 6-1, 6-1. Mountain Valley registered wins with No. 1 singles Rylee Sevigny defeating Isabel Harkins 6-3, 6-2 and both doubles matches. No. 1 doubles team Lauren Pepin and Alyssa Shaffer defeated Jaelyn Crocker and Della Hahn 1-6, 6-2, 6-2. Boothbay forfeited the second doubles match. Boothbay finished the regular season 3-7, and in sixth place in the Class C South Heal point standings.

The Boothbay boys’ team has completed eight of their 10 matches. The Seahawks are 5-3 and are in fifth place in the standings.

On May 22, Boothbay defeated Dirigo 2-1. The Seahawks scored victories from No. 2 singles player Gryffin Kristan beating Jacob Chow 1-6, 6-3, 6-3, and No, 1 doubles team Cody Field and Andrew Fowlie defeating Logan Hodgkins and Keegan Foreman 6-2, 6-2. In first singles, Dirigo’s Hayden Adams defeated Rath Schoenthal 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. The boys’ two final matches are against Carrabec and Lisbon.
