A late afternoon performance by 14 young dancers entertained the 50-plus relatives and friends on the Boothbay Common for about an hour on Friday, Aug. 28.

Rescheduled due to Saturday’s forecast of rain, the Boothbay Region Y-Arts summer dance program concluded under sunny skies with several choreographed dances with music from various Broadway shows.

Director Emily Mirabile introduced each piece and between each dance, she handed out various certificates of achievement to the dancers. The dancers spent the summer at the Boothbay Region YMCA annex several days a week to learn the performances.

Everyone was asked to wear a mask and bring a chair or blanket to watch the show held in front of and on the refurbished gazebo.

Several of the performers will be participating in the upcoming classes.
