Boothbay Region Lions Club

Fri, 12/11/2020 - 8:45am

The Boothbay Region Lions Club met for a regular meeting on Dec. 9.

We voted to send donations to New Hope for Women and Project Graduation.

Lion Karen as our Zone Chair reported that Maine District 41 of Lions International will be sponsoring a Souper Bowl contest in the month of January. Each Lions Club is to collect various items for their local food pantries, and the club donating the most items will receive $100 to donate to their local food pantry. COVID restrictions have severely hampered the usual activities of Lions Clubs, but we continue to try to “think outside the box” to stay visible to our communities.

Tickets are selling well for our Christmas Lottery Raffle. Tickets are available for $5 from Hawk Motors or Dr. Jay Andrews dental office (please call ahead), and also from Cathy Latter, Stacy Peters or Craig Balsdon. The drawing will be held at the club house live on Facebook on Dec. 23 at 3 p.m. The prize is $300 worth of Scratch Tickets attached to our “Gnome Tree.”  Please see our Facebook page for a photo of the tree. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Boothbay Region Food Pantry.

We decided not to meet in January, so our next meeting will be Feb. 10, 2021, at the East Boothbay Fire Station. A meal will be provided.  For more information please visit our Facebook page.
