Boothbay Region Lions Club

Tue, 09/17/2019 - 1:30pm

The Boothbay Region Lions Club met for their first meeting of the new season on September 11. Pizza was provided by Lion Barry’s daughter, and other Lion members brought appetizers and dessert, which were enjoyed by all.

Our treasurer Lion Karen presented her report and explained some changes she has made in the club’s accounts regarding administration and public monies, which should make keeping track of funds easier in the future.

We have listed our club house with Tindal & Callahan Real Estate for $159,000. We continue to look for a future home after the sale of our building.

Over the summer, the club directors met a couple of times, and authorized donations of $132 to the Food Pantry, $200 to the Community Health Center, and $200 to the Boothbay Harbor Library. At this meeting, we voted to give $200 to Habitat for Humanity’s project on Campbell Street in Boothbay Harbor and $200 to Lions International disaster relief fund to help in the Bahamas after the devastation from Hurricane Dorian.

Lion Karen is our new district zone chairman, and she gave us a brief report of upcoming meetings, etc.

We decided to allocate the club’s share of our 50/50 raffle each meeting to administrative funds.

Our next meeting will be Sept. 25 and our guest speaker will be June Johnson from the Maine Vision and Hearing Foundation.
