Boothbay holds off Richmond, 53-49

The Boothbay Region Seahawks held off a fourth-quarter comeback by the Richmond Bobcats and squeaked out a 53-49 win at home Thursday, Feb. 11.

Boothbay held a 41-25 lead after three quarters, but the Bobcats didn’t quit and drew to within three points, 50-47, with 1:41 to play. Coach Dan Hallinan had the Seahawks take time off the clock and Ben Pearce went 2-for-2 from the foul line with 13.8 seconds to play to seal the win. Boothbay now stands at 2-4 on the season.

Pearce led the Seahawks with 16 points, followed by Sullivan Rice with 11 and Kaleb Ames with nine. Matt Sullivan contributed eight points in the second half to help Boothbay build an 18-point lead before the Bobcats outscored the Seahawks 24-12 in the final quarter.

Caleb Densmore was the top scorer with 27 points for the visitors. Conner Vashon and Adam Volocek each added eight points.
