A rebound and layup by Kylie Brown and 4-for-4 foul shooting by Glory Blethen late in the fourth quarter provided the cushion for the Boothbay Region Seahawks as they went on to edge the visiting Monmouth Mustangs, 46-41, at BRHS Thursday night. The two seniors showed their experience down the stretch as Monmouth was unable to overtake Boothbay, which improved to 4-6 on the season.

The game remained tight throughout with the Mustangs holding a 23-21 lead at the half and 31-30 after three quarters. Monmouth gained its last lead 35-34 with 4:45 to play. Boothbay took the lead and with two minutes to play, the hosts only led by two, 40-38. After some defensive stops by the Seahawks, they got the winning necessary baskets for the win.

Junior Jaelyn Crocker had a fine night as well, leading the team with 20 points (8 points each in the first and third quarters). Blethen was second in scoring with 15 points. Brown and freshman Jordan Chamness each scored four.

Leading the Mustangs in scoring was Holly Hunt with 13, followed by Emma Johnson with 12.
