Things are happening on all fronts and it takes a detailed timeline to keep everything in order.

For example, now that David is back at home and has the libation corner in full working order, Chef Franklin and Chef Joseph will start to feel their oats in the BHYC Galley as they serve the eating part of STAKES and STEAKS on Saturday night celebrating the running of the Preakness Stakes. The cost of $30 pp is inclusive and the meal will include steaks, potato, salad and dessert. 1700 is the starting time of the event and you can make reservations at the cocktail event Thursday night with David or by calling the dining room reservations line on the phone system (Ext 104) and leave your reservation or call or email Charles or Donna as another option.

The high school sailing team is nearing the end of their season  and the final event is the MDI regatta on May 16. At press deadline we were waiting for news on an event this weekend at Sail Maine. Last week’s story goes this way: Nolan Conlin and Ella Beauregard, Nate Rideout and Andrea Gutierrez raced at the Maine State High School Championships in Castine over the weekend. Competitors from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine competed for the Downeast Invitational Regatta. This event garnered  three trophies: overall win (Belmont High School), best Maine High School team (Camden Hills), and a Corinthian Spirit Award honoring long time MMA coach Butch Minson won by Islesboro's Emily Lau. Our B Boat had a good regatta with a best finish of 3rd placing 6th overall.

Over at the construction site many parts of the project are wrapping up. The sheet-rocking is finished and taping and plastering is nearing the paint stage. The heating system is in and tested and work on the retaining wall segment is about to start. When completed this will allow planting of grass, etc. to give things a finished look. We do have to wait for a permit to cut into Route 27 for the water main to be installed and once that is done, the paving of the parking lot can be accomplished ... hopefully without bothering ongoing club activities. Stand by for future news.
