Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club

The Rotary Foundation slogan this year is “People of Action.” Even in this challenging time the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club took action to bring cheer and connection to the residents of St Andrews Village. During a weekly “Zoom” meeting the Sunshine Basket committee was formed.

Six Rotary Club members meet at the clubhouse (with social distancing, masks and plenty of hand sanitizer, of course) to put the baskets together. It was a real group endeavor, with everyone bringing something special. There was flower arranging, trinkets from St Andrew’s Thrift Store, master bow-making with beautiful ribbon donated by Boothbay Region Greenhouses.

Due to COVID-19 everything entering St Andrews must be heavily sanitized, so items were chosen that would withstand the process, but still bring some color and joy.  Lots of flowers, hearts, and little framed drawings of flowers or seascapes by Becca Weinstein  were artfully arranged in each basket. Linda Clapp gathered items for the baskets, Deb Graves and Judy DeGraw arranged flowers, Marty Helman adorned each basket with a beautiful bow.

Thirty-two baskets were ready and delivered in time for Mother’s Day.  Hopefully, our Rotary Club Sunshine Baskets are helping people feel more connected to the community, and adding a bit of springtime cheer to their days.
