I love a mystery!
Tue, 01/24/2023 - 8:15am

The holidays have come and gone but our scenic winter is still here. Snow capped roof tops, icy roads, puffing chimneys, and low digits tell us so. Soon after the holidays the library was bustling with patrons returning a variety of materials. Some seeking something new, and others full of questions.

One question might be what was the best mystery novel written in 2022? For me that's a hard question.

Online book sales and book stores would base their answer on sales. Libraries would base it on the number of times a book is checked out (called circulation). I like to think that it is up to the individual. I might ask; what was your favorite book or author for 2022? Why did you like it? Was it the topic or the author's style of writing? Did it leave you wanting more?

I have put together a short list of mystery/thriller authors and titles that were popular at our library in 2022. My personal favorite was “The Last Thing He Told Me” by Laura Dave.

“A Flicker in the Dark” by Stacy Willingham

“Survive the Night” by Riley Sager

“Ice and Stone” by Macia Muller (a book club favorite)

    “Hostage” by Clare MacKintosh

“Take Your Breath Away” by Linwood Barclay

“More Than You'll Ever Know” by Katie Gutierrez (a GMA book club pick)

“What Happened to the Bennetts” by Lisa Scottoline

“Everything He Didn't Say” by Nicole Baart

“A World of Curiosities” by Louise Penny (still on the waiting list)

If you like the Joe Pickett series, there was a long waiting list for “Dark Sky” by C.J. Box.

    Happy reading mystery lovers!
