We’re so excited to announce a new library card benefit: you can now check out a family day pass to the Boothbay Region YMCA.

The day pass will allow free entry to the YMCA for up to two adults and four children. As with our other passes, you’ll be able to reserve the YMCA pass in advance by stopping by or calling us at 633-3112.

The YMCA offers an indoor track, indoor basketball courts, two swimming pools, and a large fitness complex. For more information and to see pool and fitness class schedules, visit them at www.boothbayregionymca.org

We still have all of the passes we offered last year, too. Library card holders can check out a pass to the Boothbay Railway Village, good for admission for two adults and all their accompanying children or grandchildren (under age 18). Kids love feeding the Railway Village goats, checking out the old tractors and antique cars, playing in the old-fashioned schoolhouse, and of course, riding the steam train.

Art lovers can check out passes to the Portland Museum of Art (up to two adults and six children) and the Farnsworth Art Museum (two passes, children under age 16 are always admitted free). Both of these are perfect options for rainy days.

Family passes are also available to the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. These passes admit up to eight individuals in a single family group.

If you’re out in Bath, you’re a hop, skip, and jump away from both Reid State Park and Popham Beach, both of which are free to anyone who has checked out our Maine State Parks Pass

Finally, we offer reduced admission passes to the Maine State Aquarium in Boothbay Harbor. With this pass, adults cost $5 (usually $7), seniors $3 (usually $5) and children are $2 (usually $3). Because we can give out multiple passes to the aquarium each day, there’s no need to reserve yours in advance; so check those out and go pet dogfish to your heart’s content.
