Jazz Concert fundraiser July 20
Tue, 05/21/2019 - 12:00pm

I think by now we all know how fast our calendars fill up in the summer, so mark yours today for A Summer Evening of Jazz on Saturday, July 20.

The Marcus and Riza Printup Quartet will perform at The Shipyard at Boothbay Harbor (120 Commercial Street, building #5) from 7-10 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. or arrive at 6 p.m. to catch the private pre-show tour of the Schooner Ernestina Morrissey.

This fundraiser is being put on jointly by the library and the Boothbay Sea and Science Center, and will benefit children’s programming at both locations. Tickets are $100 and available at either nonprofit’s website (bbhlibrary.org and boothbayseaandsciencecenter.org).

Reserve your tickets early; you won’t want to miss this fantastic group play jazz at the water’s edge, with the sun setting in the background, on a perfect July evening.

A free children’s concert follows at the same location on Sunday, July 21, from 2 to 3 p.m. Join Riza Printup and Friends for “I Have A Song Inside My Heart: A Summer Afternoon of Jazz.” Tickets are required for this event (free tickets!); you can also get those at either our website or the BSSC’s website. All adults must be accompanied by a child.

I’ve already ordered my tickets for the children’s concert, and it’s super easy. The link on our website will take you to a third-party ticketing website called Brown Paper Tickets. They’re safe and secure, and registering with them is optional.

I did register on the website so that I could get e-tickets on my phone and to see if I’d get spam emails (I didn’t!), but we’re also printing out a list of all registered guests for both concerts to check at the door, so don’t worry about carrying printed or e-tickets. Just use your real name (or remember the one you made a ticket reservation under), and we’ll take it from there. Tickets to either concert make a great gift, too! As always, call, visit our website, or stop by for more information.
