Boothbay cruises by Flyers

After falling behind 17-10 in the first quarter, the Seahawks took charge through the middle two quarters and went on to defeat the visiting Waynflete Flyers, 53-37, at Porter Memorial Gymnasium Saturday afternoon, Jan. 28.

Sharp shooting from senior Gryffin Kristan and a solid defensive effort gave Boothbay the lead it would never relinquish. The Seahawks outscored the Flyers 23-6 in the second quarter and led at halftime 33-23. Boothbay increased its lead to 19 points (44-25) after three quarters as the Flyers struggled to score.

Kristan led all scorers with 22 points (six three-pointers). Junior Finn Harkins added 13 points for Boothbay while senior Ryan Amaral and junior Luke Morley each scored six.

The Flyers were led by senior Matt Adey with 11 points, followed by junior Nico Kirby with eight.

The Seahawks improved to 7-5 with the win while the Flyers dropped to 8-6.

Boothbay is scheduled to host Mountain Valley on Tuesday, Jan. 31. The Class B South Falcons are 8-6 and have won their last four games.
