Boothbay boys tennis post 2 wins in 4 matches

The Boothbay boys’ tennis stands in sixth place after posting two wins last week.

On May 18,  Winthrop defeated Boothbay 4-1 in a road match. In first singles, Cody Field lost to Josh Deanda-Whaley, 7-5,6-4. In second singles, Rath Schoenthal lost to Noah Grube, 6-3, 6-4. Boothbay forfeited third singles. Boothbay won their only match in first doubles with Gryffin Kristan and Andrew Fowlie defeating Adam Hardy and Jake Smith, 6-3, 6-1. Boothbay also forfeited the second doubles. 

On May 19, Boothbay swept Spruce Mountain of Jay, 3-0. No. 1 Cody Field beat Spruce Mountain’s Swen Bryant in three sets (3-6, 6-4, 7-6). No. 2 Rath Schoenthal defeated Drew Delaney, 6-2, 6-2. In doubles, Boothbay’s  Kristan and  Fowlie beat Ian Yonk and Payton Mattin, 6-1, 6-3.

On May 20, Boothbay and Spruce Mountain squared-off again with the same result. Boothbay won both singles matches and one doubles match. Field beat Bryant 6-1, 6-3. Schoenthal defeated Drew Delaney 7-5, 6-3. And Kristan and  Fowlie beat Ian Yonk and Payton Mattin, 6-4, 6-4 in doubles.

On May 21, Boothbay lost a narrow decision, 3-2, to Madison. In No. 1 singles Field lost to Jaden Spaulding 11-9. In No. 2 singles, Schoenthal beat Isaac Ouellette, 10-5. Boothbay forfeited third singles and second doubles. In first doubles, Kristan and  Fowlie defeated  Madison’s Tanner Mongeon and Christian Cabrera, 11-9.
