Rev. Glen A. Carter will be formally installed as Senior Pastor of Boothbay Baptist Church on Sunday, Oct. 2 during the Morning Worship Service.

Community members are invited to the special service which begins at 10:15 a.m., followed by a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall. Guest speakers for the installation will be Eric Brown of Word of Life New England and Rev. Bill Stone, former pastor at the church during the 1970s.

Pastor Carter and his wife Marisa moved to Boothbay in August, and he began his ministry with his first sermon on Aug. 28. He previously served for 20 years as Senior Pastor at Hope Community Chapel in Franklin, New Hampshire, where both he and Marisa were extensively involved in youth ministries and in the community. Prior to that, he served as Associate Pastor of Baptist Temple Church in Fall River, Massachusetts.

He attended Liberty University and Eastern Nazarene College before earning a bachelor’s degree in youth ministries at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. In 2019 he graduated with honors from Baptist Bible Seminary in Clark Summit, Pennsylvania, with a master’s degree in pastoral leadership. He is currently working on a doctorate in theology with Andersonville Baptist Seminary of Camilla, Georgia.

Pastor Carter’s past community activities in Franklin, New Hampshire, included coaching both indoor and outdoor soccer and serving on the Mayor’s Drug Task Force as well as the Twin Rivers Interfaith Food Pantry board of directors, among other organizations. He enjoys reading, music, hiking, biking, kayaking, woodworking, motorcycle riding, and blending and roasting his own coffee.

He and Marisa have four grown children and five grandchildren whom they have already taken to the Botanical Gardens and other places in the Boothbay region when they visit.

The couple will be involved in various youth and adult ministries at Boothbay Baptist, where he is the 46th pastor since the church was founded in 1809.

A new children’s group called KREW (Kids Reaching & Encouraging the World for Christ) Adventure Bible Club recently started meeting on Wednesday nights 5:45-7:30 at the church. Children Pre-K through age 12 are invited to attend. For more information call the church, 633-7378, or visit www.boothbaybaptist.com.
