A boat rescue thank you

    Dear Editor:

From earlier this boating season, I'd like to belatedly thank the Boothbay Harbor harbor master and Linekin Bay Resort for so generously assisting me when my sailboat outboard motor quit as I was washing up on the infamous ledge at the opening of Linekin Bay.

The Boothbay Harbor harbor master came before I could even hang up my 911 call, towed me off the ledge and up to Linekin Bay Resort. The crew there powered out, directed us to a guest mooring, and brought me ashore for an excellent reviving lunch. So here I went from potentially sudden death on the ledge to a warm and wonderful lunch in about 30 minutes or less. While I dined, the Linekin Bay crew went ahead and checked out my motor, found a loose fuel connection, said it would be OK if I left the boat on the mooring over night, and brought me back out to the boat the next morning.

The Harbor Master and the Linekin Bay crew insisted there was no charge for any of this (Just so won't think badly of me, I will mention I did, parenthetically, leave a tip.) It's heartwarming to find such true unexpected generosity. Thanks to all of you again.
