The Boothbay Harbor Planning Board on Nov. 13 approved Michael and Lisa Derezin’s application to demolish and rebuild their home at 45 Juniper Point Road. The structure is nonconforming, sitting nearer the water than zoning and Maine Department of Environmental Protection allow.

The board noted the applicants, represented by Michelle and Dan Phelps of Phelps Architects, tried hard to come as close as possible to setback rules. Said member John Hochstein, “The important thing is that you took the time to make sure that you honor the attempt to move it back to the greatest practical extent.”

The board and Code Enforcement Officer Geoff Smith continued discussing ordinance changes, and said some potential ones are still under legal review.
