Black Bears down Seahawks 65-44
At Maranacook Monday night, Jan. 12, the Boothbay Region Seahawks fell to the Black Bears, 65-44, in Mountain Valley Conference action.
Maranacook, now 8-4 in Class C South, scored in double figures in each quarter and led 32-13 after 16 minutes as the Seahawks started slow.
“We came out flat with low energy,” said Seahawk coach Dan Hallinan. “We played better in the second half.”
Boothbay, now 3-8 in Class D South, was led by senior guard Simeon Bates with 17 points, followed by eight points each by sophomore guard Peyton Barter and senior center Harry Hinckley with eight points. Sophomore guard Chase Licursi added seven points.
Maranacook was led by Gage Mattson with 20 points, followed by Jack Fontale with 17.
The Seahawks are next scheduled to face Oak Hill (6-4 in Class C South) on Wednesday, Jan. 14. Oak Hill edged the Seahawks at BRHS earlier this season, 60-53.
