    Dear Editor:

We recently acquired and read “Searching for Systems in the Ever-Changing Sea; A history of Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences 1974-2016” compiled by Boothbay Harbor’s own Spencer Apollonio.

The book outlines how Bigelow labs came to be, from its first location at McKown Point to its current state of the art facility in East Boothbay. The research conducted at Bigelow Labs over the years is nicely summarized and includes a glossary of terms for lay people like us. The photos of various phytoplankton are stunning.

Everyone who lives in the Boothbay region should read this comprehensive account of this world renowned lab right here in our midst.

Copies can be obtained from Lincoln County Publishing, P.O. Box 520, Newcastle, ME 04553. Tel: 207-563-3171.
