Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club Junior Sailing members Toby Clarkson, Otto Schoenthal, Arden Carleton and Piper Carleton won the Area ‘A' qualifier for the Sears Cup this past weekend at Sail Maine in Portland. Competing against teams from Rhode Island and Massachusetts in challenging Portland Harbor conditions, the team triumphed, winning five of the six races to complete the series with a total score of eight points. It was a beautiful day on the water and Sail Maine orchestrated a fair and fun event despite inconsistent breeze and ever present summer boat traffic.

Next the kids are off to Eastern Yacht Club in Marblehead, Massachusetts to compete in the 100th annual Sears Cup at the CHUBB Junior National Championships. The team will represent Area ‘A’ (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island) and be competing against the top sailors from ten other regional areas across the country.
