Author David Rosenfelt has written 19 novels and three TV movies. His main character in these books is Andy Carpenter, attorney and dog lover. David will speak at the Southport Memorial Library on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m.
After graduating from New York University, he decided to work in the movie industry, eventually becoming president of Tri-Star Pictures. He then left the corporate industry and wrote screenplays for movies and television. He turned to writing novels and became quite successful.
He and his wife, Debbie Meyers, are known for rescuing over 4,000 dogs, mostly golden retrievers. David and his wife started the Tara Foundation in California to care for stray dogs. When David and Meyers relocated to Maine they transported 25 rescues in three vans with 11 volunteers as written in his nonfiction book, “Dogtripping.”
Said David, “All dogs deserve a future and to be loved.”
Presently, the couple live with 16 rescues on acres of land in Damariscotta.
