On Monday, June 28, at 7 p.m., the Merry Barn Writers’ Retreat and Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shop will welcome acclaimed middle grade author Ann Braden for a reading and book signing event at the Merry Barn.
Ann’s second novel, “Flight of the Puffin,” was published last month to rave reviews. Educator and book blogger Colby Sharp called the book the next Wonder. Ann's debut novel, “The Benefits of Being an Octopus,” was named one of NPR’s Best Books of 2018.
“Ann Braden writes books about kids trying to stand up for themselves even when life is hard. Her newest middle grade novel, Flight of the Puffin, prompted a coast-to-coast read aloud with more than 30,000 readers in over 700 locations nationwide. Ann founded the Local Love Brigade, which sends love postcards to those who are facing hate,” (from www.annbradenbooks.com).
Come hear Ann talk about her writing process and share excerpts from Flight of the Puffin. Create a postcard for our own Maine Love Brigade, started by local author Jodi Paloni, in February 2017, in response to the increase in hate-related incidents.
Copies of Ann’s books will be for sale by Sherman’s. Ann will sign books after the reading.
The Merry Barn Writers’ Retreat is located at 417 River Road in Edgecomb. For more information, contact Stephanie at (207) 752-2018 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The event is free and open to the public.
