Art House Theater Day screening: 'Out Of Print'
Movie lovers are invited to celebrate the enduring magic of independent cinema when Lincoln Theater hosts a free screening of the documentary, "Out of Print" on Thursday, July 30 at 7:15 p.m. The event is part of the annual Art House Theater Day, a nationwide celebration of independent theaters and the vital role they play in their communities.
Presented by Art House Convergence, Art House, Theater Day brings audiences together each year to recognize the unique contributions of art house cinemas and independent film. The celebration highlights theaters that serve as cultural gathering places, offering opportunities to experience ambitious, innovative, and thought-provoking films that might otherwise never reach local screens.
At a time when audiences have more viewing options than ever before, Art House Theater Day serves as a reminder that watching a film in a theater remains a uniquely communal experience. Independent theaters offer something that cannot be replicated at home: the opportunity to laugh, gasp, reflect, and connect with others through a shared story.
Lincoln Theater’s featured film, "Out of Print," is itself a celebration of that experience. The documentary is a love letter to watching movies on film, in independent cinemas, with an audience. Through visits to Los Angeles' iconic New Beverly Cinema and London's legendary Prince Charles Cinema, the film explores the passion and dedication that keep repertory and independent movie houses thriving in an increasingly digital world. Featuring interviews with filmmakers, actors, critics, and lifelong movie enthusiasts, they reflect on the importance of preserving cinema culture and the role independent theaters play in introducing audiences to new ideas, new voices, and unforgettable experiences.
As Lincoln Theater celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, celebrating Art House Theater Day with this screening offers an opportunity to recognize the power of movie theaters as gathering places where stories are shared, conversations begin, and communities come together.
