WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine), a member of the Senate Intelligence and Armed Services Committees, was in Paris, France on March 21st and 22nd as part of an ongoing Senate Intelligence Committee delegation visit focused on national security.

In Paris, Senator King met with top French officials, including French Parliamentarians and national security officials, as well as the U.S. Ambassador to France and other U.S. Embassy officials. Their meetings focused heavily on the terrorist attacks in Brussels, which left more than thirty people dead and more than 200 wounded, and the importance of the U.S.-France counterterrorism partnership, particularly as it pertains to intelligence sharing. They also discussed data encryption and France's response to the November 13, 2015, terrorist attacks in Paris.

The visit to Paris follows trips to Poland and Ukraine where Senator King met with the countries' respective national security officials. The delegation trip remains ongoing and further information will be released when possible.
