PRE -SEASON Ski Conditioning for Downhill and Cross Country
Join Mary Baudo for this 2-night conditioning course for both downhill and cross-country skiing. You will learn easy yet effective exercises to strengthen your legs as well as gain balance and agility needed for skiing this coming season. Some prior ski experience would be recommended. Wear comfortable clothing (no jeans) including sturdy sneakers or cross training shoes. David Patch mentioned, “I took a similar course before with Mary and the year I did it I was in better shape than in other years that I didn’t. Many people just start skiing at the beginning of the season having done no conditioning beforehand and they spend half the time in the lodge because their legs are too tired.” While a ski instructor during college in New Mexico, Mary Baudo says, “There are certain muscles that are used in certain, specific ways while skiing that we don’t use in everyday activities even if we do exercise regularly.” With this in mind, skiing can be a lifelong sport if you stay properly conditioned for it.
