In honor of Maine’s 201st Birthday, the Railway Village Museum will offer free admission on Saturday July 3rd from 10a-5p. ‘Olde Village Day’ will feature a fun filled day of festivities for the entire family, old fashion style.

Festivities will include standard favorites; train rides, hands- on exploration, and dozens of exhibits throughout the 35 -acre property, as well as new features this year, a virtual touring app, and the Iron Horse Antiques and General Store which made its debut over Memorial Day Weekend. Olde Village Day activities will include food, and beverages for all ages (purchase required), live music, a vintage and artisan market, lawn games, a scavenger hunt, an antique engine rally, and the opening of the 200(+1) Bicentennial Exhibit. This celebratory exhibit has been in the construction stage for several months; and will be on display at the museum from July 3rd to August 1st. Led by the museum’s Director of Curation and Education, Dr. Whitney Lytle, the exhibit is a collaboration between the Railway Village Museum and other statewide historic institutions. The exhibit features artifacts from the Railway Village collection, as well as those on loan from partners, representing individuals and families who contributed to the fabric of our state’s past 200 years.

The event will also feature several of our wonderful local non profit organizations, who will be offering attendees a variety of fun reasons to visit their booths. Action For Animals Maine will offer dog nail trimming (YES, well behaved, leashed dogs are welcome at this event), puppy kisses and hair braiding. St. Andrews Auxiliary Thrift Shop will showcase some of their eclectic inventory for shopping enthusiasts. The little ones can ‘go fishing’ at The Eastside Waterfront Park booth as they learn more about the future community park plans! Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce will be sharing their ‘Discover Your Selfie’ campaign and the Boothbay Railway Village Museum will be hosting a Corn Hole Tournament and a 4th of July Scavenger Hunt for the kiddos!  The Community Center will also be joining us with fun TBA.
