The Fairy Nurse

"The Fairy Nurse" is a one-of-a-kind miniature fairy dress I created out of birch bark and brambles in my woods, with just the slightest touch of seedpod fluff adorning her skirt.

She floats within a custom made shadowbox crafted by a Maine woodworker, glossed with a clear stain. The shadowbox measures 6 in. x 4 in. and can be hung on a wall or sit on a shelf. It comes with a custom card of a microstory I wrote, detailing the Irish origins of this fairy below.

"The Fairy Nurse watches over The Changeling, a human child that this clan has stolen and replaced in its cradle with one of their sickly fairy babies. If you "over look a child" which means to be envious of it, the fairies will whisk it away. Here, The Fairy Nurse has the babe in her ever watchful gaze. She is awaiting the arrival of her clan of hunters and gatherers from the wood and waters wild to bring the babe food. The stolen child will be in her good care, and as he grows, will forget his human mother. When he cries, he will reach for The Fairy Nurse instead." This is an unusual and enchanting gift for anyone who believes in the mythical world of The Wee Folk.
