Elena Moon Park and Friends bring East Asian folk tunes and more to Rockland’s Strand Theatre stage on Saturday, March at 11am.  See the show in-person at the theater, or live streamed. Tickets for both are Pay-What-You-Can: $0-20

Elena Moon Park and Friends performs folk and children's music from East and Southeast Asia, reimagined to celebrate various musical traditions, languages, styles, and stories, plus original songs. The tunes range from northern Japanese sea shanties to Tibetan jump rope rhymes, joyous Korean harvest sing-alongs, Taiwanese train songs, and much more. Audience members are invited to sing and dance along in different languages.

In collaboration with this show, the CMCA (Center for Maine Contemporary Art) will offer a live stream ArtLab inspired by the performance. Following the show, ArtLab participants can tune in on CMCA's Facebook from 12:30-1:30pm for the free program. Art kits for the ArtLab will be available at the theater following the Elena Moon Park show; those who will be watching the live stream concert at home can choose to supply their own materials, or pick up an art kit at a pre-arranged time. This show is part of the Strand Family Series, which presents live public performances from visiting artists, designed for all ages to enjoy, offered at a Pay-What-You-Can ticketing structure. Additional shows this spring include Race and Song with Alistair Moock and Reggie Harris on April 3; 123 Andrés on April 30; and STEMusic on May 21.

Each Family Series show will have a limited capacity in-person audience (75 people, or 22%) with general admission seating, and a live stream option. The theater’s Covid safety protocols require proof of vaccination or negative test results for those age 5 and up, and masks for those age 2 and up.
