Be a part of the making of an original piece of theatre, from work-in-progress showings to the World Premier, and see how your feedback influences the shaping of the show!

ANXIOUS BRAIN (working title), with music by Portland-based singer/songwriter, Sorcha Cribben- Merrill, is a work-in-progress performance piece that explores how trauma maps the brain and creates a toxic footprint that can live in our minds our entire lives. Using elements such as movement, text, digital illustrations, images and typography, live music, song, stand-up comedy and audience interaction, Maine-based, critically-acclaimed performance artist Sara Juli looks at ways of both experiencing and disrupting trauma to find a settling of the mind. (Since the work is in its early stages of development, not all of the performative elements mentioned above will exist in the initial showing.)

This showing of the piece in development will be followed by an audience discussion with the artist on process, feedback and dialogue. A second stage work-in progress showing will take place in February 2023, with the world premiere of the final work projected to be shown in the fall of 2023.

*This work contains mature themes and language and is not appropriate for children.

This presentation is part of the Strand Theatre’s NEW CENTURY SERIES, and takes place at the Strand Theatre.

Tickets: $15/General Admission, or $50/Series package which includes this event, plus a second work-in-progress show and the world premiere
