An engineering assessment of both piers, seawalls, buildings, floats, and ramps was carried out in February of 2019. A complete rebuild of both properties was recommended. With slight modifications, the piers will be replaced in their current footprints. The finger pier at Carter’s will be lengthened so that more fishermen will be able to get their gear in and out of the water at the same time. The buying station building will be reduced in size and moved closer to the road to meet current flood zone standards. This project includes rebuilding the seawalls, piers, floats, and ramps and building a new buying station at Carter’s Wharf, 87 Atlantic Ave, formerly known as the Sea Pier.
