There’s just 2 weeks left to go! Pics from the Oct 12 practice have been added!

Boothbay Region YMCA is running a six-week soccer practice for the 4-6 year old set, a.k.a. “itty bittys” on Wednesdays at Clifford Playground.

Ben Powell, the Boothbay Region High School girls soccer coach has taken on the little ones for these 45 minute sessions. Hey, it’s never too early to recruit!

There are 20-25 girls and boys learning basics - how to kick the ball, how to control the ball, you get the idea.

Most of the parents and grandparents are on the sideline cheering the little ones on in the grassy area of the playground as a high school game is being played on the adjacent field. Some day ...

The practices run through Oct. 26.

Here are a few shots from practices. Folks taking pics can send them, with captions, to lisakristoff@boothbayregister.com to have them added to this photo gallery!

On Sept. 28 the kids got to practice dribbling and making goals on the soccer field! And they had a ball - as did their supportive group of cheerleaders.

Now, let’s get dribbling!
