The 24th annual Boothbay Charities Classic fundraiser for Special Olympics Maine was held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26 and 27. After a meet and greet event for arriving guests and committee members on Thursday, Sept. 25, a lobster bake, sports auction and golf tournament was held over the next two days. Thanks to a generous $25,000 donation from the Portland Pirates, the BCC committee was able to announce that its 2014 donation total for Special Olympics Maine was $60,000. That total eclipses 2012’s record one-year total of $42,000.
