    He was born in Bath on Oct. 2, 1958, a son of Lloyd G. and Louise M. (Stilphen) Merrill. He attended Woolwich Central and Bath Junior High School. Harold was a self employed worm digger and also did some carpentry.

    He was born in Boothbay Harbor on March 11, 1957. He grew up on Southport Island in the family home known as "Hillcrest" with his parents and siblings, the youngest of four.

    In the early morning hours of Feb. 9, 2017, Alden H. Lewis, 86, of Southington, Connecticut died at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the loving husband of Marion A. (Goodale) Lewis with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.

    Golden Eugene (Gene) Baise Jr. of Wiscasset, Maine died on Feb. 5, 2017 after being involved in a tragic automobile accident.

    He was born June 28, 1958 in Brunswick, Maine to Golden E. Baise Sr. and Hazel L. (Brown) Baise. Gene attended Bath schools and graduated from Morse High School in 1976 and then entered the United States Navy.

    The world lost a gentle man on Feb. 1, 2017. Commander Howard Philip Gunther, USN retired, was a man above all men. A lifelong Republican, his love for his country never wavered. As a young man he enlisted in the Navy and served his nation proudly for 27 years traveling the world over.

    Margaret (Laddie) Drucker died peacefully at her Sprucewold home in Boothbay Harbor on Feb. 5, 2017.

    Laddie was born to James and Corrina Ladner on July 8, 1924 and grew up on the family farm in South Gardiner, Maine. Laddie attended a one-room schoolhouse and South Gardiner High School. After graduation in 1941, she left Maine to attend Antioch College.

    Danny Beal (Daniel Wayne Beal), also known as The Music Man, died unexpectedly in Kansas City, Missouri, on Jan. 25, 2017.

    He was born to Barbara Beal Edmonds on July 14, 1954. He graduated from Jonesport-Beals High School in 1972 and attended the University of Maine at Machias and Bowdoin College.

    Olga F. (DiIanni) Carito of Watertown, Massachusetts and Boothbay Harbor, died Jan. 27, 2017 at age 88.

    Olga was the former owner and operator of the 1879 Seafarer Inn on Union Street from 1989 to 2005.

    She was born in Boston, Massachusetts in the Italian community of the North End. She entered elementary school only speaking Italian, but went on to graduate from Girls’ High School and Emmanuel College. At age 52, she received an MA in mathematics from Boston College.

    He graduated from Piscataquis Community High School in 1978. He completed a certificate program in welding in Euclid, Ohio and then went on to work at Bath Iron Works as a welder and planner for more than 35 years.

    Peggy Miner died Jan. 1, 2017, surrounded by friends, family and attendants at St Andrews Village.

    She was born to Paul and Verna Luke on Sept. 27, 1940 and attended the East Boothbay school, Gould Academy, and Westbrook Junior College.

    Peggy worked in the front office of a number of local boatyards, including her parents’. She was the office manager at the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club for 20 years. In her final years, she was the primary caregiver to her mother.

He graduated from Harvard College in 1954 where he played varsity lacrosse for three years and was a member of the Owl and Hasty Pudding Clubs.

    Tom spent the last two years involved in a medical trial for patients with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Tom wanted to make a difference, if not for himself, but for others.

    Judith M. Dunsford, 69, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving husband, Jon, and her sister, Mary on Dec. 14, 2016 at her home after a fight with breast cancer that lasted for over 12 years. Her children, Ethan and Sarah were also able to arrive for her birthday on Dec. 10, just three days before she passed away. She was born Dec. 10, 1947 in Schenectady, New York to Russell and Dorothy (Schultz) Anderson.
