William A. “Hooker” Holbrook, 65, of Boothbay died Jan. 28, 2016, at Maine Medical Center with family by his side.
Hooker was born August 30, 1950, to Stanley Holbrook and Grace (Holton) Holbrook in Boothbay Harbor. He went to area schools and graduated from Boothbay Region High School in the class of 1968. He earned his associate's degree at Central Maine Community College in machine tool design.

Elizabeth “Betty” Mellon Pike, 79, of Boothbay died peacefully on Jan. 26, 2016 at the Gregory Wing in Boothbay Harbor.
Betty was born Dec. 26, 1936, to William Mellon and Alice (Ingham) Mellon in Malden, Massachusetts. Betty grew up in Melrose, Massachusetts, where she went to local schools and graduated from Melrose High School in 1954.

June R. Parmenter, 83, of Seminole, Florida and a longtime summer resident of Boothbay Harbor, died peacefully on Jan. 23, 2016. She was a resident of Greenbriar Manor Assisted Living Facility.
She was born on June 14, 1932 in Camden, the daughter of Merrill and Marjorie Joyce Kalloch. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick L. Parmenter, of Boothbay Harbor and Pinellas Park, Florida.

Arvilla Ames, 93, died Jan. 23, 2016 at Winship Green Nursing Center in Bath.
She was born in North Newcastle on March 21, 1922, a daughter of Thomas Edward and Belle Hardy (Knowlton) Yarbrough.
She attended Whitefield schools and on Nov. 15, 1941 married Charles Linwood Ames.

Born on March 16, 1930, he was the son of Hugo Carlson and Eleanor Anderson, and was a fraternal twin brother of Frederic C. Carlson.

Philomena “Fay” DiMascio, 95 of Boothbay died Jan. 19, 2016 at the Gregory Wing at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor.
Born Philomena Gertrude Ferraro in Schenectady, New York, on Nov. 13, 1920, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Helen (Policastro) Ferraro.
Fay graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and worked for the General Electric Company and the Carl Company, both in Schenectady.

Charles L. Marr died Dec. 29, 2015 in Largo, Florida.
He was born in Portland on June 10, 1924.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Beatrice Marr.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Marr; two daughters, Cindy Soler and Janet Lewis; a son, Dennis Marr; and their families.
His ashes will be interned in the family plot in Boothbay at a later date.

Thomas F. Fogarty Sr., 72, died peacefully with loving family by his side on Jan. 12, 2016, at the Maine Veterans Hospital.
He was born April 24, 1943 to Thomas F. Fogarty and Mary Mahoney Fogarty in Hartford, Connecticut. Tom went to local schools in Hartford, graduating from the Hartford Public High School. He joined the Navy after high school, serving his country during the Vietnam War.

Stephen C. “Steve” Reny, 49, died unexpectedly at his home on Jan. 3, 2016 in Boothbay.
Steve was born on March 11, 1966 to Neal Reny and Jean (Davis) Reny in Boothbay Harbor, where he went to local schools and graduated from Boothbay Region High School in 1984.
Steve worked for the family construction business starting in 1982, and it was the only job he ever needed.

The Reverend Dr. Otis A. Maxfield died in Portland, Maine on Dec. 29, 2015 at home with his family. He was born in Malden, Massachusetts on June 3, 1927 to Irene Agatha Maxfield. He married E. Virginia Maxfield in 1947 and together they had five children: Janet Duncan, Susan Garrett, Lois Jones, Andy and Tim Maxfield. Eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren followed, enriching his life.

Kathleen Bean, 92, died at her home, surrounded by family, on Dec. 24, 2015.
She was born in Bristol, Connecticut, the twin daughter of Richard and Mary (Carne) Monckton. Her twin, Mary, survived only a short time.
Kathleen attended schools in Bristol and followed high school with the completion of business school. She was employed by New Departure, a division of General Motors, which handled payroll for 8,000 to 10,000 people.

Dwight Nickerson Eames of Southport, who died December 19, 2015, was born in Boothbay Harbor in 1929. He spent all his childhood summers here. His school years were spent in Hartford, Connecticut. He liked to draw and paint at an early age and made art his lifelong career. He graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, receiving a bachelor of arts degree, and after serving in the U.S.

Lawrence W. “Butch” Greenleaf Jr., 55, died unexpectedly at his home in Trevett on Dec. 11, 2015.
Butch was born in Boothbay Harbor on September 30, 1960 to Lawrence W. Greenleaf Sr. and Jennean Simmons Greenleaf. Butch grew up in Trevett and graduated from the Boothbay Region High School in the class of 1978.
Butch worked at Bath Iron Works for 34 years as a shipfitter and electrician. He also worked with Rendall Hyson for three years prior to BIW as a carpenter.

Meagan Forney, 40, of Boulder, Colo. died November 26, 2015 in Boulder.
Meagan was born on May 16, 1975 to Michael and Sharon Forney. She graduated from Oberlin College and worked as a consultant in Green Energy. Her family has ties to the Boothbay region.
Meagan enjoyed photography and art. She was an adventurer, an explorer, an artist and maker. She was an eager mom and coach. She loved gardening, camping and digging in the dirt.

Nate was born in Hartford, Conn., the son of Sarkis Chalaby and Minerva (Townsend) Chalaby. Nate grew up in Boothbay where he excelled in sports and music. He graduated from Boothbay Region High School in 1986.

She was born on November 11, 1947 in Wiscasset, the daughter of Arthur Russell and Florence Madelyn Delano.
Martha enjoyed her flower gardens, crafts and particularly her family. She worked for the Wiscasset school system for many years.

Born in Boothbay Harbor on June 1, 1928, she was the daughter of John Heagan Eames and Muriel McMicken Eames. She was the wife of noted wildlife woodcarver and painter, Ted Hanks, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.

Thelma S. Sherman, 97, of Boothbay Harbor died peacefully surrounded by love on December 1, 2015.
She was born on May 18, 1918 in Boothbay Harbor, the daughter of Melville and Carrie Huey Sproul.
Thelma graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School in the Class of 1937. After graduation, she became a bookkeeper for C.C. Reny Plumbing & Heating and continued working as a bookkeeper for her husband, Bert in his plumbing, heating and gas business for a number of years.

Kay Vratil Gilchrist of Wiscasset died November 15, 2015 due to complications from an auto accident.
Beloved wife of William Gilchrist, Kay was born in Great Bend, Kansas (1948) and raised in Larned, Kansas, where she delighted in a large extended family. She excelled in academics and was elected to Girls State, a government-in-action learning program designed to guide young women to become knowledgeable stewards of freedom, democracy and patriotic citizens.

Eugene A. Damon, 86, died November 11, 2015 in Jacksonville, Fla. He was born June 25, 1929.
A native of New York, Gene was the son of a prominent attorney who spent his summers sailing up and down Long Island Sound enjoying the coast. He earned his bachelor of arts degree from New York University in 1950, eventually settling into a career in advertising for one of the largest agencies in Manhattan, representing the Fuller Brush Company.

Beverly Emma (Loomis) Galvin of Boothbay Harbor died peacefully with loving family by her side on November 17, 2015.
She was born on February 5, 1929 to Nathan and Amy (Wilcott) Loomis in Concord, New Hampshire.
Beverly was an artist who created greeting cards for Rustcraft Greeting Card Company in Dedham, Massachusetts. She went on to own her gift shop called “Nana’s” in Avon, working as an artist, sculptor and crafter.

Matthew Barber Wilder of Boothbay Harbor died November 1, 2015 surrounded by his family.
He was born in 1946 in South Bend, Indiana to Sam and Joan (Hinds) Wilder. Matt grew up in Madison, Connecticut on Long Island Sound and enjoyed summer vacations with his grandparents in Southwest Harbor. He was always happiest on the water.
