Masters of Ceremony Roosevelt Bishop and Bruce Harris invite the community to the Boothbay Region YMCA on Dec. 5 at 5 p.m. for the first ever Y Arts Singathon. Y Arts youth and local artists will come together to perform 80 songs in the YMCA Field House, which will be broadcast live on BRCTV Channel 7.

The goal of this event is to raise funds to help support the Everybody Sings Free choirs, a free program which gives area youth (currently there are 47 members) the opportunity to learn the basics of singing in a fun, supportive environment at no charge.

Funds will be raised through the sponsorship of a song, at $25 each, called in by local businesses, neighbors, family members and friends. Sponsors can also send a message of support that will be read LIVE at the event.

With the help and support of Harbor-Tech Solutions, viewers will be able to call in to the event to sponsor a song via one of their new US Cellular wireless home phone systems.

The Y Arts Singathon will include performances by the Y Arts Kiddie Choir, Youth Chorus, After School Arts, Students of the Y Arts Voice Studio, the cast of “Frog & Toad,” “Broadway in Boothbay,” and special guests: Andrew Luke, Debbie Beam, Dan True, John Adams, Nancy Durgin, Chris and Dave Gagne, Joel Biron, Kristen Robinson, Nick Mirabile, Roosevelt Bishop, Nick Azzaretti, Meredith Fowlie, Terri Bates, Jamie House, and Emily Mirabile.

To sponsor a song, or for more information, visit the YMCA front desk or email Arts and Humanities Director Emily Mirabile at emirabile@brymca.org.

The Boothbay Region YMCA is located at 261 Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor.
