Letter to the Editor

Would appreciate votes

Dear Editor:

This is a letter to the voters of Edgecomb. As the town elections are approaching, I would like to ask for your vote for tax collector. In my years as tax collector, I have improved the position by implementing computerized programs that help to help make the job more streamlined and easier for the taxpayer. Many of you have requested the rapid renewal program through BMV, which I have been attempting to acquire for a few years now, and each year it has been turned down by the board of selectmen due to budget constraints in the town, which I am sure you are all aware of. I will continue to fight for this as I understand the town hall is only open a few hours a week, and the convenience of doing tasks on a computer saves time.

As tax collector I took it upon myself to become certified by the state of Maine. This required many hours of training and attending workshops. Although being certified is not a requirement for the position, I felt that is was important to me and to the town.

Again I would like to thank the voters for their support. Voting day is Friday, May 15 at town hall from 1 to 7 p.m. If you would like an absentee ballot, please come in to town hall and see the town clerk. Unfortunately I will not be in town for the election and town meeting as my daughter is graduating from college. If you need any registrations completed for Memorial Day weekend, please be sure to come in before the 14th.
