letter to the editor

'Wonder Woman' Stephanie Hawke

Dear Editor:

I recently had the good fortune to have Stephanie Hawke, our legislative representative, have my back when it came to a proposed law which could have caused drastic problems for me and our family. I had been writing letters, emails, trying to make my way through the maze of legislative protocol, committees, the pertinent people. I did receive polite acknowledgments but vague information of how to proceed to solve my problem.

Then enter "Wonder Woman," Stephanie Hawke. I call her Wonder Woman because I think she has a clone. Despite her busy schedule in Augusta, everything here in our community, plus running her business, Hawke Motors, she made the time within the first week I called for help, to come to our home. Stephanie listened, understood, and more importantly really cared. She immediately gave our problem her attention and because of her actions, very soon I received a letter from the head of the pertinent committee assuring me that my problem could be solved.

We have had the pleasure to get to know Stephanie on a more personal level as a warm, caring, and great person to have to tea. Although I voted for her, I wonder if after the election, or until we need help, we really stop to appreciate the level of energy, intellect, and time put in to representing our community. I know I must sound like her PR person, but in these days of "politics," it is hopeful and reassuring to know we have someone like Stephanie working for our community. Thank you Stephanie.
