Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Hampden woman March 28 after she allegedly ran over her boyfriend with a car. The woman allegedly caught the boyfriend, who is a convicted sex offender, assaulting her underage relative.

Deputies arrived at the East Neck Road, Nobleboro residence around 11:30 p.m. and found that James Oliver, age 48, of Hampden, had been struck and run over by a car in the driveway of the residence.

Investigation revealed the vehicle had allegedly been driven by Oliver’s girlfriend, Linda Currier, age 53, also of Hampden.

Apparently, a fight ensued between Oliver and Currier after Currier walked in on Oliver attempting to sexually assault Currier’s underage relative at the residence.

The fight continued outside where Currier allegedly ran over Oliver with a car. All adult parties at the residence had apparently been drinking at the time.

Oliver was transported by ambulance to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta and later to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment of a serious, but non-life threatening injury to his leg.

The underage relative did not receive any injuries requiring immediate medical attention and was taken from the scene and cared for by family.

Currier was arrested for operating under the influence and aggravated assault. She was booked at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset and later released on bail pending her court appearance.

Oliver was arrested when he was released from Maine Medical Center on Monday, March 4, and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail.

Oliver was transferred to the Maine State Prison Infirmary in Warren on Tuesday morning, March 5, where he is being held pending a court appearance.

Oliver has been charged with attempted gross sexual assault, unlawful sexual touching and failing to comply with the sex offender registration act (second offense) for not updating his address.
