A Wiscasset man who eluded police for almost a month has been apprehended.

Glenn Lewis, 58, of Wiscasset was arrested Monday, Jan. 12 and charged with multiple infractions following almost a month on the run, according to a release from Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline.

Lewis was originally wanted in connection to an incident on Dec. 16 in which he allegedly fled from Cline. Because Cline knew that the black Ford pickup truck allegedly involved in the chase belonged to Lewis, Cline backed off the chase after six minutes and instead obtained an arrest warrant.

According to an earlier report from the Wiscasset Police Department, Lewis had been sought for allegedly attaching improper license plates to another vehicle in November 2014.

Lewis is being charged with eluding a police officer, criminal speed and improper plates.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. Jan. 12 Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies Jared Mitkus and Joel Seekins responded to a Rockland Road residence in Jefferson where they spoke with Jeffrey King, 50.

Initially, King allegedly denied that Lewis was in the house, and Mitkus reportedly told him that he knew otherwise.

Eventually, King reportedly relented and admitted that Lewis was in the house; Mitkus allegedly found Lewis in the upstairs where he was arrested without incident.

King, too, was arrested, and charged with Class D hindering apprehension or arrest and Class D possession of a firearm by a prohibited person after deputies reportedly saw guns in plain sight.

Both King and Lewis were transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset where they will remain while they await arraignment. Both Lewis and King were held on $250 cash bail, which King reportedly made on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
