Dear Editor:

Sad to see the bowling alley go. Romar was a major part of Boothbay Harbor commerce and then entertainment for nearly a century. It was weird, quirky and wonderful. We spent many hours with our daughter, Jessie, there, teaching her the fine points of aim, pitch and drop without dinging up those wonderful maple lanes.

I hope some wise craftsman gets to recuperate all that lovely maple alley flooring from inside and re-purpose it. I imagine an entrepreneur has already offered to buy the bowling pins and balls that are there. If they haven’t, I will be first in line to offer buying them from the Rowe sisters.
