As April draws to an end, the FARMS Community Kitchen (upstairs above the Rising Tide Market) in Damariscotta invites the public to find out what’s cooking in the kitchen, and then to come learn how to cook several flavorful dishes:

On Monday, April 27, 9:30-11 a.m., come to the kitchen to enjoy popovers and tea, and also help Karen Kleinkopf and Virginia Hill prepare and bake a tray of spanakopita, a savory pastry stuffed with spinach, onions, cheeses and herbs, all enfolded by crispy, flaky phyllo dough. Class fee: $10.

Wednesday, April 29, 10-11:30 a.m., Homeschoolers Cooking Class. Come all homeschoolers, ages 6-12, and learn to make carrot muffins. Karen Kleinkopf will show you how easy it is to make muffins. And, yes, the same batter can be dressed up with other flavorful fillings. Class fee: $7.

Thursday, April 30, 6-8 p.m. In this third “What’s Cooking, DOC?” class organized by Lincoln Healthcare, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Rifat Zaidi will welcome your help as he prepares a delectable and extremely flavorful dish from his Pakistani homeland: shrimp karahi with lentils and eggplant. Class fee: $10.

The class cost includes a generous sampling of all the dishes. Reserve your space early by leaving a message on the FARMS phone at 207-563-1161.
