What makes a nation great

Tue, 10/24/2017 - 10:45am

    Dear Editor:

The plutocrats are busy spinning out arguments against Question 2. They pretend to be fiscally responsible even after having shutting down the government in order to give the privileged rich yet another tax cut.

But when it comes to taking care of our own people, they leave one question unanswered. The question is this: Where does an ordinary underpaid worker get adequate health insurance? My union negotiated health insurance costs my employer over $14,000 a year for me and my wife. This does not include my out of pocket costs that can run a few thousand dollars  more.

So will one of our plutocrat friends please tell us where someone working at a job that pays them less than $22,000 a year will find decent affordable health insurance?

The truth is that too many of our working citizens are suffering and dying early because they have no options. We need to end economic rationing of healthcare in this country. The system we have in place now is as morally bankrupt as standing on a pier watching someone drown without throwing them a lifeline.

What makes any nation great is how they take care of their citizens. Every veteran knows and takes to heart the military ethos of leaving nobody behind in the field. If we want to make America great again, we are going to have to start taking care of our own.
