You may have heard the name before but not know exactly what the BRCRC is. This organization is a multi-faceted group of non-profits that provide persons in need on the Boothbay peninsula (Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb and Southport) with resources and funds in a confidential and collaborative manner.

There are several different programs that are available to those in need.

Amy Winston, the Community Navigator, provides case management to individuals and families in need and coordinates services.

The Woodchucks harvest, splits, stores and delivers wood to those in need of heat for their homes.

The Emergency Fuel Fund provides a one time delivery of oil, propane or electricity heating assistance to financially qualified households during the winter season.

The Free Clothing Closet, located at the Boothbay Harbor Methodist Church, is open year round and provides all types of free clothing for all seasons for those that need.

Set for Success Back to School Program is a one day event in August that provides a backpack and all school supplies as required by each grade’s teacher in the Elementary Schools in the region.

Food for Thought provides high nutrition and high vitamin foods to children and families identified as being at high risk for food insecurity. The foods are prepared and delivered confidentially to the households for weekend meals.

The BRCRC also collaborates with the Food Pantry, Rebuilding Together, and Warming Space Lunches.

All of this costs money and donations are needed to continue funding each program. Checks can be sent to P.O. Box 43, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538. For more information please visit their website at www.boothbayresources.com or call 633-6272.

The Boothbay Region Community Resources Council is a 501 (c) (3), not for profit organization.
