Col. Mark Westrum, Two Bridges Jail Administrator and former Sagadahoc County sheriff, was arrested in Bath on Friday, Oct. 7 for OUI. He was released on personal recognizance bail.

His initial court date, according to Bath Police Department records, will be Nov. 22, at 1 p.m.

Westrum had been stopped for driving with no lights on Front Street after dark by Officer Mike Lever. According to Bath police, Westrum was cooperative.

Jail Authority Chairman Mary Trescot sent out notice of a special authority meeting to be held on Oct. 12 at 4 p.m. Ordinary business is expected to be conducted, except for an executive session “to discuss the appointment, assignment and duties of an individual.”

Jail authority member and Lincoln County Sheriff Todd Brackett confirmed that this executive session related to Westrum’s position. “We will have to vote on the issue,” he said.

Westrum has been jail administrator since 2008, when he resigned as Sagadahoc County sheriff to accept the position. He has also served as a police officer.
