Voting for Hawke

Tue, 10/25/2016 - 1:30pm

    Dear Editor:

Many of your readers, I am sure, have had the pleasure of knowing Stephanie Hawke, and are familiar with her cheerful disposition, work ethic, and love of family and community.

They may also know that she has been an effective and active contributing member of the CSD School Committee for three terms. Being a mother of three children working their way to high school graduation has obviously given her insights into the needs of an effective, efficient school system.

Many of us, however, are probably not aware of the work she has been doing in Augusta as our Representative in the House, cutting through Augusta’s bureaucratic red tape and road blocks to help our local citizens. From resolving a constituent’s issues with MDOT to restoring school subsidy for Edgecomb to helping our neighbors receive health care benefits, Stephanie is always there for us. The door to her office at Hawke Motors is always open. She welcomes all sorts of comments and suggestions for improving Maine government, and she has become an advocate for countless people attempting to deal with the Augusta bureaucracy.

And still she finds the tine and energy to continue her work for many of our local community events and non-profit organizations. If there’s a benefit supper anywhere on the peninsula, you’ll probably find Stephanie in the kitchen! Rebuilding Together, Community Resources Council, the Clothing Closet, Meals on Wheels, Windjammers Committee… you name it, she’s there to help.

Stephanie Hawke deserves another term as our State Representative.

She really is one of us!
