Dear Editor:

Boothbay voters should vote yes for the roundabout for the following reasons:

1. This has been the worst year for accidents according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office;

2. Traffic is getting heavier from the Botanical Gardens. They are going to expand and will benefit from it as well;

3. We need to have more economic development. This would improve tourism and bring in new businesses and jobs for our area.

4. Taxes are being paid to Boothbay coming from Paul Coulombe’s businesses because they are for-profit, whereas the Gardens are a non-profit organization, which pay no taxes.

5. Some people are worried if something should happen to Mr. Coulombe that the town will have to pay. Not true — he has his legal affairs in order to take care of this.

6. If we don’t vote for it, and traffic becomes even more hazardous, the state can come in and do it without us having a say.

Vote yes for the roundabout and all three articles on Nov. 8.
