Volunteers have more fun

Tue, 10/28/2014 - 12:00pm

    Dear Editor:

Laughing and making friends while helping your neighbors is what volunteering is all about. "To give is to receive" is true. It's wonderful therapy.

And whether it is volunteering at the St. Andrews campus, the Gregory Wing at St. Andrews Village, or St. Andrews Auxiliary Thrift Shop, the St. Andrews Auxiliary is helping LincolnHealth and all the other nonprofit healthcare providers in the Boothbay region to deliver the best possible care — here at home.

This past year, through the generosity of our community, we have given:

    • $5,000 to the Boothbay Region Ambulance Service
    • $2,000 to LifeFlight
    • $10,000 to Healthcare Education (scholarships)
    • $10,000 to the Tufts Medical School Program (training for local doctors)
    • $17,868 to the Family Care Center
    • $2,000 to the Urgent Care Center, St. Andrews campus
    • $1,049 to Maintenance at the St. Andrews campus
    • $29,729 to St. Andrews Village
    • $3,739 to Wellness/Rehab at the St. Andrews campus
    • $500 to the District Nurse

This is a total of $81,885.

So please join the St. Andrews Auxiliary. Help support our healthcare here at home; help your neighbors and yourselves. Have fun!

To join the auxiliary, sign up at the St. Andrews Auxiliary Thrift Shop in the Bank of Maine (formerly Meadow) Mall.
